NLEN Member Support

 

The Member Support Program has been created to lend financial support to NLEN Member Groups that require assistance. The NLEN covers partial costs associated with attending workshops or conferences, planning events or producing educational or informational publications of our member groups. Here is the new application form for 2008/09 in both.doc format and .pdf format.

Mountain Equipment Coop

www.mec.ca MEC has a community contributions granting program divided into the following categories: land acquisition, capacity building, research, advocacy and education, access and urban sustainability.

 

Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador

www.cfnl.ca The Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFNL) is a province-wide, registered charity that builds and manages charitable funds for businesses, organizations, families and individuals. It distributes the income as grants to many of the humanitarian, educational, health and cultural charities in this province.


Provincial EcoAction Fund

http://www.gov.nl.ca/env/Eco/application.pdf  We invite environmental groups, businesses and the public to submit innovative proposals that have broad applications for achieving GHG reductions. We encourage creativity in these proposals, as long as the objective of reducing GHGs is demonstrated in the submission.


Federal EcoAction Community Funding Program

http://www.ec.gc.ca/ecoaction/what_is_e.html   Funding is available through the EcoAction Community Funding Program for projects that address Environment Canada’s priority issues of Clean Air and Climate Change, Clean Water, and Nature. At this time, funding priority may be given to eligible projects that address Clean Air and Climate Change issues.


VOCM Cares

www.vocmcares.ca  VOCM Cares is committed to community capacity building

and under a new initiative designed to meet this commitment, the foundation is providing training dollars to organizations seeking to educate volunteers, management and service delivery personnel in the operation of not-for-profit corporations.


EJLB Foundation

http://www.ejlb.qc.ca/ The EJLB Foundation is interested in medical and scientific research and protection of the environment.


Tree Canada

http://www.tcf-fca.ca/ Provide funding to plant trees.

Wellness Coalition Grants

http://www.regionalwellnesscoalitions.com/ Each region of the province has a Regional Wellness Coalition which each offer a grants program for member organizations.


Provincial Wellness Grants

Grants range between $3000 - $30 000. To get a copy of the application contact dianekieley at gov.nl.ca or just email me at nlen.ed@gmail.com.  The last deadline for applications was September 19, 2008.


Environmental Damages Fund (EDF)

There are 3 deadlines per year: March 31st, August 31st, & November 30th. For more information on EDF, the funds available in your province, and application requirements, please consult the EDF website at: http://www.ec.gc.ca/edf-fde/.


TD Friends of the Environment Foundation $100,000 Go Green Challenge

Geared towards university and college students, teams of four, along with a faculty sponsor will write an essay about changes that could be made in a Canadian community to improve urban sustainability by protecting the environment and making it healthier, greener and more livable for future generations. Parks and People

This initiative is intended to teach young Canadians to become active and responsible environmental stewards. Funding is available for not-for-profit organizations and priority is given to environmental education projects that take place in national and provincial parks, national historic sites with large natural areas and national marine conservation areas.
